Regular Updates

Okay.... so last time I posted I definitely said I was going to start posting more. That, of course, hadn't happened. I have resolved again to try and be regular with posting about our days here in the Bruns' household!

So to begin this restart, I will tell you a little about my day.

As always, I awake to Lily which of course is wonderful except for the fact it's so early (usually around 7ish). Yes - that's early! Today at McDonald's they had free mcskillet burritos so Matt watched Lily while I went to get us one. Never had one before and I was rather pleased although I don't know if I would purchase it without it being free.

On another note, Matt is trying to find a job down in the raleigh-durham area. I would LOVE to move down there because 1)I do love the area and 2)my sister and her family live there. The second being the bigger reason! And with her twins on the way I would love to be there to help out. Matt has an interview on Tuesday with this childcare place so be praying that it goes well!! He's looked for jobs before and nothing has come through so we're praying that God will open a door for him.

I'm loving being a stay at home mom. I can't imagine my life any differently now or having to get up and leave my baby all day. It's tiring and monotanous (sp?) at times but I wouldn't trade it for the world. Lily is just SO much fun and SO adorable - I can't believe she turned 3 months this past week! Where is the time going? I've been working on getting her to take naps in her crib the past 2 weeks and also taking longer ones so we can get on the 3 nap a day schedule. This morning she just took the one longer nap which was great. And even though sometimes it takes some work to get her down, she is sleeping in the crib. Yeah! This week she also has started rolling over from her tummy to her back. Yeah Lily!

Well.... I think my child is about to wake up from her evening power nap so I must be going. Keep checking now for periodic updates though! :) I'm including a picture of Lily since it has been awhile too - although I send pictures regularly to a lot of you!

6 Weeks of Baby Lily

So after 6 weeks, I am finally blogging again! Hopefully more on a regular basis from now on. I am currently sitting here looking at the disaster our apartment is and thinking of ALL the things I should be doing right now besides blogging. But hey, sometimes you just need to break and Lily is sleeping peacefully at the moment.

I'm not even going to ATTEMPT to blog about the entire past six weeks because that would take far too long. Instead, I will pick up from Christmas. We went to VA Beach for Christmas/New Year's. It was our first trip and a long one - 10 days. Packing was NUTS for such a small baby! We made it though and I had a good time. The holidays were actually pretty sane and non-stressful this year which is a first! We are back in Lynchburg now and I go back to work on January 23rd and I'm not really looking forward to that.

I have just fallen so in love with this little baby girl of mine. She is SO cute! It's so crazy how such a small little baby can competely steal your heart away and you would do ANYTHING for them. It's been so wonderful watching Matt with her too. He loves her SO much and he is SO good with her. I couldn't ask for a better husband or father. I am so blessed.

At Christmas I was thinking about the fact that God gave his ONLY son to die for us, for me. I have always known this of course but it has become SO more profound now that I have a child of my own. Until you are a parent you can't even imagine what that must feel like to give up your only son to DIE. Right now I am looking at Lily and thinking, HOW MUCH GOD MUST LOVE US! Because I would not give up my little Lily for ANYONE in this world, EVER.

Lily is doing SO great. At her one month check up before Christmas she weighed 8 pounds 3 ounces! And I am sure she weighs more now at 6 weeks. She's staying awake more now during the day and loves to just look around. This past week she has been really smily in the mornings and I have gotten her to smile back at me a few times! What a cool moment when they respond like that! She also has rolled almost completely over once!

Well, that's a good update for now. If you want to see pictures, go look on Facebook. And if you don't have Facebook, get on it! That's where I post most of the pictures because it is so much easier than trying to load them here. Off to try and get a few things done and take care of my baby girl who seems to be stirring!

tired and weary

Lily Madelyn Bruns was born on November 21, 2007 at 8:22PM. She weighed 6 pounds 4 ounces and was 20 inches long. A cutie pie but wearing mom and dad out! I will post more pictures at a later date once I am functioning!

Scheduled Induction

Today we went for my non-stress test since I'm past my due date now and also to see the midwife. Our little girl didn't cooperate for a long time on the test - so it ended up taking about an hour and a half just for that! The test was good though.

My midwife did another cervical exam which was a LOT more promising this week! I was 80-90% effaced, baby's head was at station 0 (good and low), and 1CM dialated. The midwife said I was a good candidate now to be induced if we were interested - so of course we said yes to that. They have scheduled me for induction on Wednesday (21st). I will either be going in to the hospital tomorrow (Tuesday) night or Wednesday morning. I will find out tomorrow. They want me to come in again in the morning to be checked to see if I am anymore effaced/dialated at that point.

The midwife also did what is called "sweeping the membranes." Basically they put their fingers between the amniotic sac and uterus and sweep around. This helps to release prostaglandins which help to prepare the cervix. It wasn't as painful, thankfully, as last week. This is probably due to the fact that I was a lot farther along than last week.

I can hardly believe that in 2 days we will have our baby girl!! I have had a bit of every emotion I think today. Even though I knew it was near - it's becoming much more reality. Scared/nervous/excited/happy - you name it! Which I believe is quite normal.

We will keep everyone posted and of course post pictures once she is here! Be in prayer for all 3 of us!!
